Clay Garden — Studio Story
Clay Garden is a ceramic studio rooted in slowness, material, and quiet presence.
Behind Clay Garden is Qian, a ceramic artist born in China and now based in Berlin. She began learning ceramics in 2019 alongside a full-time job, gradually building a strong connection to working with clay by hand.
In 2025, she traveled to Jingdezhen, China — a city with a long ceramic tradition — to study intensively. The experience deepened her technical skills and artistic direction. After returning to Berlin, she began working as a ceramic artist while continuing to develop her own work.
Clay Garden grew from the idea of creating an independent space to work, share, and build a creative community — now located in a 30-square-meter studio in Berlin.
Clay Garden was born from this space.
The name reflects the origin of ceramics itself. Clay comes from soil, and from soil grow flowers and plants. Clay Garden is imagined as a place where ideas, forms, and people can grow gently. It is a studio for creating ceramic work, teaching workshops, hosting small courses, exhibiting pieces, and offering a physical home for Qian’s own ceramic practice.
In a time defined by noise and speed, Clay Garden is an invitation to pause.
喧嚣和快节奏的当下,寻得一片安静的净土,做有温度的作品。
In the noise and fast pace of the present, finding a quiet place to create works with warmth.
Clay Garden welcomes those who appreciate quietness, nature, and the beauty of handmade objects shaped slowly, with care.
